Deadly School Attack in Nigeria’s Kogi State Leaves Three Killed
According to reports, the assault took place at Government Secondary School in Iluke Bunu, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, when a group of armed men stormed the area on motorcycles in what appeared to be an attempted mass abduction.
Police said the attackers arrived at around 10 a.m. on approximately 40 motorcycles before security forces responded after receiving distress calls from residents.
Kogi State Police spokesperson Saliu Afusat said in a statement that security personnel engaged the attackers in a gunfight, forcing them to retreat into nearby forested areas.
He said, “The combined security operatives engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel, forcing the criminals to flee into the surrounding bush.”
Authorities have launched further operations in the area as investigations continue.
