Zelenskyy Claims Prolonged Iran Conflict Benefits Russia
In a virtual interview, Zelenskyy said: "I am sure Russia wants long war. They have benefits: The U.S. is focusing on the Middle East and may decrease military help to Ukraine. Sanctions are partially lifted. I see only benefits for Russia from the war with Iran continuing."
He noted that Russia is profiting from rising oil prices and cautioned that Ukraine’s weapons supply could be affected if the Iran conflict continues.
Russia has not responded to these statements.
Zelenskyy also mentioned that Ukraine shared intelligence with Middle Eastern leaders indicating that Russia had provided Iran with satellite imagery of US and allied military installations in the region.
Regarding peace negotiations with Russia, Zelenskyy expressed concern that the US might pressure Ukraine to concede territory, stressing: "We are not the aggressors."
