Turkish Capacity Utilization Rate Climbs to 74.2 Percent in December
The rate advanced 0.1 percentage points from November's 74.1% reading, according to the central bank's monthly survey findings.
Intermediate goods manufacturing posted the strongest capacity usage at 75.3% during December, rising 0.1 percentage points compared to the prior month.
Durable consumer goods registered the weakest performance, with capacity utilization dropping to 68.5%—a decline of 1.4 percentage points month-over-month.
Sector-specific analysis showed wood products manufacturing led all categories with 83.8% capacity utilization, while leather production languished at the bottom with just 62.4% usage rates.
The utilization metrics derive from a business tendency survey conducted among domestic manufacturing facilities nationwide.
The Turkish Central Bank noted that 1,828 companies participated in this month's survey, emphasizing the data represents industry responses rather than the institution's official projections or forecasts.
The modest uptick in overall capacity utilization suggests Turkey's manufacturing base continues experiencing gradual operational expansion, though significant sectoral disparities persist across different production categories.
