Epstein files reveal ten alleged co-conspirators
Prosecutors, however, are not pursuing new charges against these individuals due to insufficient evidence. Since 2005, US authorities have publicly named at least seven suspects, with only Ghislaine Maxwell—Epstein’s associate and sometimes girlfriend—being prosecuted. Maxwell is currently serving her sentence in a minimum-security prison after being transferred there earlier this year.
The newly released files include two high-profile figures previously named as co-conspirators in 2019 Justice Department documents: US billionaire Leslie Wexner, a longtime Epstein business associate, and French modeling scout Jean-Luc Brunel, who died by suicide in 2022. Wexner has stated through legal counsel that he has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Four women were also identified by prosecutors in 2007 as co-conspirators: Sarah Kellen, Lesley Groff, Adriana Ross, and Nadia Marcinkova. They were shielded from further prosecution under a 2008 deal that allowed Epstein to plead guilty to lesser state charges of soliciting prostitution, including from minors—a move critics have called a “sweetheart” deal.
Courts later found that the agreement violated the law by failing to notify Epstein’s victims.
Documents from Maxwell’s criminal trial indicate that Kellen, now an interior designer, lived in Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion during the period of his alleged crimes. Victims claim that she arranged meetings for women to provide massages to Epstein, escorted girls into rooms where they were sexually abused, took nude photos of underage victims, and paid them for the images.
Groff, Epstein’s former executive assistant, is reported to have facilitated sexual abuse and handled payments to victims. Ross, a Polish model employed at Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion in the early 2000s, appears frequently in flight logs for Epstein’s private plane, including trips with former President Bill Clinton. Marcinkova was described in lawsuits as Epstein’s “traveling companion” who “participated in sex acts with minors and Epstein.”
Some of those identified as co-conspirators have denied involvement and described themselves as victims.
Epstein was found dead in his New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His victims have alleged that he operated an extensive sex trafficking network involving wealthy and politically connected individuals. The case continues to generate controversy in the US, with lawmakers and advocacy groups pushing for greater transparency regarding Epstein’s associates and anyone who may have aided his crimes.
