Tokyo Train Collision Causes Partial Suspension of Service

(MENAFN) Train operations in Tokyo experienced partial suspension after two trains collided late Sunday, Japanese media reported Monday.

The accident took place at 11 p.m. local time at Kajigaya Station in Kawasaki City, where a local train traveling from Chuo-rinkan to Shibuya struck an out-of-service train. This impact caused a section of the stationary train to derail.

Around 140 passengers were on the moving train at the time, but according to media reports, there were no injuries. Both train drivers also remained unharmed.

The collision disrupted services on the line connecting Tokyo’s Shibuya and Kanagawa prefectures. Additionally, Tokyu Oimachi Line operations were halted between Futako-tamagawa and Mizonokuchi stations in both directions.

Japan’s transport authorities are currently probing the incident to determine its cause.
