Toyota Posts 2.2 Percent Rise in August Global Sales

(MENAFN) Toyota Motor Corp. reported Monday that its global sales in August rose by 2.2% year-on-year, reaching a total of 844,963 vehicles. This marks the eighth consecutive month of growth, largely fueled by sustained demand in international markets.

Sales outside Japan surged 4.4% from the previous year, hitting a record 748,694 units. In particular, sales in the United States saw a notable 13.6% jump, with 225,367 vehicles sold, driven by strong demand for hybrid models despite the ongoing effects of increased U.S. auto tariffs.

However, domestic sales in Japan declined by 12.1%, totaling 96,269 units. The company attributed the drop to delays in deliveries caused by temporary suspensions in production.

On the production front, Toyota also experienced a 4.9% year-on-year increase, with 744,176 units rolled out globally. This marks the third consecutive month of growth in production volume. Notably, Toyota’s U.S. production climbed 19% to 126,081 units, while domestic output in Japan rose 12% to 207,990 units, aided by a recovery following a certification issue last year.
