Increase in number of fatalities due to building collapse
Among the victims are at least 15 women and three children, while three individuals remain in critical condition. The rescue teams utilized heavy machinery and advanced equipment throughout the more than 48-hour-long operation to safely remove rubble and search for survivors.
Local authorities revealed that the collapsed building was around 30 years old and had been previously classified as structurally unsafe. In response to the tragedy, a high-level investigation committee has been established to examine the causes and assign responsibility.
