Traffic accidents on rise throughout Nepal

(MENAFN) Between May 15 and June 14, a total of 215 people lost their lives in traffic accidents throughout Nepal, according to police reports released Monday. Among the deceased were 15 children and 200 adults.

During this period, 2,911 accidents occurred involving 4,416 vehicles, resulting in injuries to 4,240 individuals. Of those injured, 580 were reported to be in critical condition.

Motorcycles were the most frequently involved vehicles in these accidents, followed by cars, the report stated.

The main factors contributing to the accidents included speeding, drunk driving, and jaywalking. The police also collected fines amounting to 94.13 million Nepali rupees (approximately 689,519 U.S. dollars) for traffic rule violations during this time frame.
